On March 20th, 2011, The New England once again took part in the annual Boston St. Patrick’s Day Parade, for the first time since 2009. Last year, the garrison cancelled their appearance after strong rain and flooding made it difficult for troopers to march, and the garrison was excited to see that the weather held out, with brilliant blue skies and cool temperatures.

Joined by our sister group, the Rebel Legion’s Alderaan Base, the entire group numbered almost 60, with contingents of clone troopers, rebel pilots, storm troopers and Jedi, as well as the iconic Darth Vader, Emperor Palpatine and Darth Maul. Surrounded by crowds numbering an estimated 600,000, the garrison set off on the four mile parade route, posing for pictures and greeting fans. The roar of the crowd was astonishing and at points, overwhelming as the garrison appeared.

Generously, the parade committee has made a contribution to a charity of our choice. With the recent disasters in Japan, the Garrison has elected to have the money go to the American Red Cross, a frequent partner with the NEG.
