On April 23rd, 2010, members of the New England Garrison and Alderaan Base participated in Hasbro’s Annual “Bring Your Child To Work Day.” The day began with a presentation for the children called “Costumes 101,” where the participants learned about the creation, assembly, and wearing of Stormtrooper armor. During the lunch hour, the gathered costumed characters posed for photos with the children of Hasbro employees.

On April 10th and 11th, members of the New England Garrison trooped at the newly revamped Boston Comic Con at the Boston Westin hotel. With a table and several troopers set up on the main floor, the NEG patrolled the convention floor, posing for pictures and handing out Imperial Citations to con-goers for minor violations.

Last week marked a busy one for the 501st New England Garrison, who participated in three separate events between Vermont and Massachusetts. Here’s what we’ve been up to:
Thursday, March 25th, Space Derby – New Bedford, MA

A couple of troopers headed out to New Bedford, MA to participate in a space derby put on by a local Cub Scout pack. A Space Derby is one of the numerous events that packs, either on their own, or with several packs, put together a small spaceship, propelled by a rubber-band fan and mounted on a taught wire and race them. Lowell, MA – JANUARY 23: Members of Alderaan Base and the 501st New England Garrison trooped at the third annual, Star Wars Night with the UMass Lowell Riverhawks, hocky team.

We had a great time meeting the fans and hamming it up with the mascot and team band. Thank you to the school for having us out!

The New England Garrison partnered once again with the Tsongas Arena and Lowell Devils for their Star Wars Day on Friday, March 19th, 2010.
Arriving prior to the start of the game, the NEG fielded a number of memorable characters, from Darth Vader, Emperor Palpatine and other troopers. In addition to the 501st, members of the Rebel Legion’s Alderaan Base joined in with the event to bring both the light and dark side to the game.
