During the weekend of November 1st, members of the New England Garrison and Alderaan Base attended the 3rd Annual Rhode Island Comic Con in Providence. While the con had some issues with overcrowding, which lead to some ticket holders from being locked out for a period, the weekend was a big success for the NEG. We raised a grand total of $1414.74 for the Hasbro Children’s Hospital. There was also a Blood Drive at the con, which collected 49 pints of “the good stuff”. On Sunday, October 26th, members of the New England Garrison, Alderaan Base and the Mando Mercs marched in the 60th annual Woburn Lions Club Halloween Parade in Woburn, MA.   We had 41 troopers (plus 3 younglings) marching along Main Street. There was a solid grouping of OT characters for the Empire and a great looking crew of Jedi up front. And Firaxan Clan got into the mix by pulling together a 4-man line of their own to join us. On Saturday, October 25th, members of the 501st Legion – New England Garrison were invited to The Comic Shop in Watertown, MA. Like Free Comic Book Day in May, Halloween Comicfest has become a popular event in the Watertown community. Members of the 501st were invited to appear.   On Friday, October 24th, members of the 501st Legion – New England Garrison and the Mando Mercs – Wampa Clan participated in “Ghosts on the Banke”, Strawbery Banke Museum’s “Spooky not scary” trick-or-treat experience in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Strawbery Banke Museum is an outdoor history museum like Old Sturbridge Village or Plimoth Plantation, we’ve got 9 acres of old houses, gardens, orchards etc. During “Ghosts” each doorway of the historic houses will have a costumed person handing out candy. On Sunday, September 21st members of the 501st New England Garrison paid a special visit to a very special person. Peter Allen dreamed of joining the 501st but unfortunately was diagnosed with ALS before he could finish his TIE Pilot costume. So members of the garrison took it upon themselves to finish the costume for Peter and make sure that his dream came true. Welcome to the 501st Legion pilot!!!
