September 10th was Star Wars Reads Day all around the world, and the New England Garrison took part in events at three different locations. We had troopers attending Phoenix Books in Burlington, VT, Barnes & Nobel in Holyoke, MA, and at Letterpress Books in Portland, ME. Star Wars Reads day is turning into another “Star Wars Holiday”, along with May the 4th. We had great turn outs at all three events, with many little kids in awe of seeing their favorite characters in the books they are reading, come to life before their eyes!

On October 4th, members of the New England Garrison attended the Big E Parade in West Springfield, Ma. The Big E, also known as The Eastern States Exposition, is billed as “New England’s Great State fair”. It is the largest agricultural event on the eastern seaboard and the fifth-largest fair in the nation. The Big E is inclusive of all six of the New England states: Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont. Troopers report that it was a great day for all! Gorgeous weather, sun and all. Lots of opportunities for photo ops with the public, and…

The Plymouth, MA Home Depot invited the New England Garrison back to attend another Safety Fun day on October 3rd. This event is always a fun troop, as it is loaded with kids who are excited to see us! The place was very busy for the time we were out there. Plenty of fun for everyone including chasing a pesky Jawa, who thought that a shop vac was a droid! A good time for all. We hope to come back again next year!

On September 29th, troopers from the New England Garrison attended the Heart Walk for the  American Heart Association of Vermont, in Oakledge Park, Burlington, VT. Our troopers were  there to support “Team Jeremy”. Jeremy Boquet died completely unexpectedly on January 2 at the age of 22 when a blood clot suddenly stopped his heart. Jeremy was a massive Star Wars fan and he greatly admired the legion. Our troopers attended his memorial service earlier in the year. Our troopers were suited up and ready to go shortly after 9, and hung by the table with Jeremy’s family during the introductions….

The New England Garrison was invited to attend a party for the community to celebrate 50  years of storytelling at the Warwick Public Library, held on September 26th. Even though we were only able to send one trooper to this event, it was a fun troop! Had fun  celebrating the library’s 50th anniversary with plenty of pictures with kids both young and old.  They had pizza and the mayor cut the cake and gave a speech. Way to go trooper!
