The good folks at the Franklin Park Zoo invited the 501st’s New England Garrison, along with the Rebel Legion’s Alderaan Base back for another Star Wars Day. Our troopers descended upon the base on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 10th. The zoo was very pleased with all our troopers and wranglers, they had a great turnout. As did we! On Star Wars Day, May the 4th, the 501st’s New England Garrison, along with the Rebel Legion’s Alderaan Base, was invited to Star Wars Night at Fenway Park. – This was a troop that is one for the history books! The adjective “EPIC!” is not a strong enough word to describe how great this night was! To celebrate May the 4th, the international day of all things Star Wars, The Burlington Town Center Mall in Burlington Vermont invited The New England Garrison to join their Star Wars themed festivities. Besides meeting troopers from the 501st Legion, visitors to the mall could also play Star Wars video games, learn Jedi Mind Tricks, play Star Wars card games, and sample Star Wars cookies and pancakes! Our old pal, Ryder Windham, had a book signing appearance at Books on the Square, in Providence RI.  He was there for his new book,  “Ultimate Star Wars”.  Unfortunately, it was a small turn out for The New England Garrison due to the face that it was also Free Comic Book Day. May 2nd was the annual Free Comic Book Day. The New England Garrison made appearances at locations all over the region! Double Midnight Comics in Manchester, NH – This is certainly the largest Free Comic Book Day event we participated in! We had one trooper who even appeared in three different costumes in the course of the day. And, another one of our troopers won the costume contest!  It was a great event for costumers of all types, not just the NEG.
