On Saturday, June 20th, members of the 501st Legion’s New England Garrison, along with the Rebel Legion’s Alderaan Base, were invited to attend Star War Night at the ball park! It was the home game of The New Hampshire Fisher Cats, the double-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays. (Though, that night, their team name was listed on the scoreboard as “The Empire”!) Saturday, June 13, 2015, the Intergalactic Alliance (IA) organization invited members of the 501st and Rebel Legions to participate in the 45th annual Boston Pride Parade. As IA is an inclusive group, members of other costuming organizations joined in the event. Boston Pride welcomed all members with open arms, and attendees were ecstatic to see all costumed participants marching along the parade route. IA is especially grateful to all 501st and Rebel Legions members that attended and supported the event. On Saturday, June 13th, the 501st Legion’s New England Garrison, along with members of the Alderaan Base of the Rebel Legion and the Mando Mercs, joined author and good friend of the garrison, Ryder Windham, for the World Blood Drive. The Rhode Island Blood Center invited us to the Warwick Public Library in Warwick, RI for this blood drive. The World Blood Drive was organized by Star Wars fans to help blood centers promote voluntary unpaid blood donations, and to inspire children to become blood donors when they are old enough. On Wednesday, June 10th, the New England Garrison was once again invited back to attend and event with Hasbro, in Providence, RI. This time it was for their Global Sales Meeting. Troopers were asked to stand guard at various entrances and be available for photo ops with Hasbro senior region leaders who were in attendance. The crowd were really polite and many of them wanted pictures with us. On Sunday, June 7th, the 501st Legion’s New England Garrison was invited to attend the annual Bowl-A-Thon for STEP, Inc. These event is a big source of revenue for the non-profit program that runs athletic programs and social activities for kids and adults with special needs. The event was held at the Brunswick Zone in Lowell, Ma. Our troopers were there to take photos with participants, and also to throw a few balls!
