The 501st Legion’s New England Garrison was invited to attend the Crossover Ceremony of Cub Scout Pack 49 in Kingston, MA, on May 19th. The event was held at the Kingston Elementary School. The ceremony involves the different ages of boys graduating up to the next level of scouts by crossing a small bridge in front of their family, leaders and friends, all while affirming their scouting oaths. At this time, they earn their the new neckerchief. The Tigers start on the Wolf Trail, the wolves start on the bear trail….etc. It is very similar to the Blue and Gold…

The New England Garrison, along with the Mando Mercs, were invited back to the the annual Millennium 5K 4 Jake’s Sake , in Hudson, MA, on May 17th.  Jake is a 12 year old boy with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy who loves Star Wars! Jake’s family and the event organizers where so happy to have us there last year, and they we’re very grateful we could attend again this year!  This event will help with medical costs, and home modifications for Jake and his wheelchair. The New England Garrison received a request to visit the Worcester Art Museum on May 17th.   This is a “carry over” event from our many years at the Higgins Armory.  The idea is to continue the Higgins Armory Museum tradition of an annual Star Wars Day. Captain Rex, Commander Fil and a Stormtrooper were on guard duty in front of the main entrance to the armory wing. The Center for Cartoon Studies in White River Junction, Vermont, invited troopers from the 501st Legion’s New England Garrison to attend their Commencement Ceremony this year.   The Center for Cartoon Studies is an MFA college dedicated to cartoonists and comic book artists, and their commencement speaker this year was Jeffrey Brown.  Mr. Brown is best known for his works Darth Vader and Son, and its sequels Vader’s Little Princess, Goodnight Darth Vader, and the Jedi Academy series. The 501st Legions’s New England Garrison was invited to attend very special birthday party for a 13 year old boy with Autism. The event was in Seekonk, MA. We had troopers who were happy to attend, for in their words, “The little fans are the best”! In attendance, there were 4 children with autism / neurological disorders, 4 or 5 other kids, and respective big kids (adults), bringing the crowd to about 20-25 people. One of our troopers in attendance reported… “Well it started like normal! Amazed child runs in opposite direction then has to be convinced we’re real! Haha…
