On Saturday, June 14th members of the 501st New England Garrison participated in the Boston Pride Parade! This was one of many events that took place during Pride Week in Boston, MA and has become a fun parade that attracts thousands of fans. We marched from our starting point on Boylston Street through the Back Bay and then made our way to the finish at City Hall Plaza. For the second year in a row we joined the Intergalactic Alliance, which is an¬†organization created to bring together science fiction and related costuming groups to participate in social and charitable events….

On Sunday, May 18th members of the 501st New England Garrison and Rebel Legion – Alderaan Base paid a visit to the Millennium 5k for Jake’s Sake event being held in Hudson, MA. This was a 5k race and fundraiser to help the Marrazzo family make their home wheelchair accessible for their son Jake, who has¬†Duchenne MD. Kids of all ages and sizes enjoyed seeing the troopers and playing games with them in the fields. On Saturday, May 17th members of the 501st New England Garrison and the Rebel Legion – Alderaan Base participated in a blood drive held at the Knights of Columbus hall in Attleboro, MA. Troopers were present to greet the kids of generous blood donors and pose for pictures. They also spent some time on “traffic duty” waving to passing cars and using the Force to try and persuade a few to them to stop and come inside.   In celebration of “May the 4th Be With You” members of the 501st New England Garrison and the Rebel Legion Alderaan Base paid a visit to the Franklin Park Zoo for their first ever Star Wars Day! There was a beautiful cake made for this special occasion, complete with animals dressed to look like Jedi and Sith Lords with a giant Deathstar on top. Troopers greeted guests as they entered the zoo and wandered around to pose for photos with them all around the park. It was a great day to enjoy the unofficial Star Wars holiday.

  Saturday, May 3rd was the annual Free Comic Book Day, which is a nationwide event geared towards getting more people out to their local comic book stores. Lots of different comics, some of which are special prints made just for this occasion, were given out free of charge to anyone that stopped by. Our troopers participated in many events all over New England.
