The 501st Legion’s New England Garrison, along with The Rebel Legion’s Alderaan Base were invited to Star Wars Day at the – Liquid Planet Water Park in Candia, NH on August 22nd. On August 14th, the New England Garrison, along with Alderaan Base, was invited to visit the Hasbro Children’s Hospital in Providence, RI. We were invited by The Longbox Comic Books and Collectibles comic shop, who brought along a selection of comics and toys for the kids. We were invited to the cancer unit to bring some smiles to the children there. We had Jedi, Darth Vader, Stormtroopers, Gunners and even a Jawa. On June 26th, members of the 501st Legion’s New England Garrison and the Rebel Legion’s Alderaan Base were invited to attend a performance of the One-Man Star Wars Trilogy by Charlie Ross, at the Regent Theater in Arlington, MA. Two Biker Scouts, a Stormtrooper and Princess Leia were in attendance. They said it may have been “the easiest troop ever!”. Troopers walked around town and greeted people in front of the theater for about an hour total, then came in for club sandwiches in their roomy dressing room! On May 31st, member of the 501st Legion’s New England Garrison, along with members of The Rebel Legion’s Alderaan Base, were invited to the “Be a Rebel, Read a Book!” event held at Water Street Books, in Exeter, NH. Book publisher Dorling Kindersley (DK) launched the nationwide “Star Wars: Read a Book, Be a Rebel” initiative. Water Street Bookstore was selected as an official event site. The good folks at the Franklin Park Zoo invited the 501st’s New England Garrison, along with the Rebel Legion’s Alderaan Base back for another Star Wars Day. Our troopers descended upon the base on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 10th. The zoo was very pleased with all our troopers and wranglers, they had a great turnout. As did we! It was really nice to see a big number of troopers again this year. This event is turning into a garrison favorite!
