On August 15th, the 501st Legion’s New England Garrison, along with the Mando Mercs’ Wampa Clan and Paul B from the R2 Builder’s Club, attended Star Wars Night at Hadlock Field in Portland, Maine, and the Portland Sea Dogs (Double A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox) took on the Akron Rubber Ducks. On Saturday, July 25th, the New England Garrison attented Star Wars Night with the Vermont Lake Monsters (the Single A Affiliate of the Oakland Athletics). The game, with fireworks after, was played at historic Centennial Field, on the campus of University of Vermont. This was a big night for the Lake Monsters. Much was made of our participation. The game was even advirtised in the local movie theaters, with the N.E.G. being center stage in the advirt. We were the talk of the town even before the first pitch was thrown! Baseball and Star Wars; two great tastes that taste great together! Especially when the New England Garrison is involved! Saturday, July 11th was Star Wars night at the Lowell Spinners, the Single A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox. The NEG, along with members of the Rebel Legion and the Mando Mercs, were out in force at LeLachuer Park, as the Spinners took on the Mahoning Valley Scrappers. By all reports, it was a great crowd! On Saturday, June 20th, members of the 501st Legion’s New England Garrison, along with the Rebel Legion’s Alderaan Base, were invited to attend Star War Night at the ball park! It was the home game of The New Hampshire Fisher Cats, the double-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays. (Though, that night, their team name was listed on the scoreboard as “The Empire”!) On Star Wars Day, May the 4th, the 501st’s New England Garrison, along with the Rebel Legion’s Alderaan Base, was invited to Star Wars Night at Fenway Park. – This was a troop that is one for the history books! The adjective “EPIC!” is not a strong enough word to describe how great this night was! We arrived a few hours before the Red Sox game that night, so that we were able to suit up and walk onto the field.
