On Saturday, January 10th, the New England Garrison was asked to attend the funeral of Jeremy Boquet in Essex Junction, Vermont. Jeremy was vocal in Vermont’s Geek community, and was a huge fan of the 501st. He had met the Garrison at conventions around the region. The Garrison was asked to act as the honor guard at service remembering Jeremy’s life. The memorial was held at the local movie theater, Essex Cinemas. On Saturday, December 2oth, members of the 501st Legion – New England Garrison and The Rebel Legion – Alderaan Base where asked to pay a visit to a young Star Wars fan who was recently diagnosed with cancer and is in the hospital to begin his chemotherapy treatments.   Over the course of four days in November, members of the 501st Legion – New England Garrison, Alderaan Base of the Rebel Legion, Firaxan Clan of the Mandalorian Mercs, and droids from the local R2 Builders Club were invited to The LEGOLAND Discovery Center Boston, in Somerville, Massachusetts. This was the first Star Wars weekend for our local LEGOLAND, which included a special night for season pass holders. Over the weekend of August 8th through the 10th members of the 501st Legion – New England Garrison and the Rebel Legion – Alderaan Base attended the super-sized convention called BOSTON COMIC CON!!! Over the course of this 3-day show members patrolled the Seaport Convention Center and mingled with their fellow sci-fi and comic book fans. This was also the first event where we debuted our newest props; a small scale replica of the Death Star Trash Compactor and a life size Kenner action figure photo backdrop! On Saturday, June 14th members of the 501st New England Garrison participated in the Boston Pride Parade! This was one of many events that took place during Pride Week in Boston, MA and has become a fun parade that attracts thousands of fans. We marched from our starting point on Boylston Street through the Back Bay and then made our way to the finish at City Hall Plaza. For the second year in a row we joined the Intergalactic Alliance, which is an organization created to bring together science fiction and related costuming groups to participate in social and charitable events….
