Over the weekend of August 8th through the 10th members of the 501st Legion – New England Garrison and the Rebel Legion – Alderaan Base attended the super-sized convention called BOSTON COMIC CON!!! Over the course of this 3-day show members patrolled the Seaport Convention Center and mingled with their fellow sci-fi and comic book fans. On Saturday, June 14th members of the 501st New England Garrison participated in the Boston Pride Parade! This was one of many events that took place during Pride Week in Boston, MA and has become a fun parade that attracts thousands of fans. We marched from our starting point on Boylston Street through the Back Bay and then made our way to the finish at City Hall Plaza. For the second year in a row we joined the Intergalactic Alliance, which is an¬†organization created to bring together science fiction and related costuming groups to participate in social and charitable events….

On Sunday, March 16th members of the 501st New England Garrison, the Rebel Legion Alderaan Base and Canadian Base, and the Firaxan and Wampa Clans of the Mandalorian Mercs came together to march on the streets of Boston for the annual Saint Patrick’s Day parade! Troopers braved the cold temperatures to bring smiles and cheer to the thousands of fans who lines the streets of South Boston to watch this parade. On the weekend of August 3rd and 4th, members of the New England Garrison and the Rebel Legion – Alderaan Base teamed up to operate a booth at Boston Comic Con. This event was originally scheduled to take place in April but due to the Marathon Bombings that took place a few days earlier it was rescheduled to August. This event also changed venues and went from the Hynes Convention Centre over to the Seaport Convention Center. On Saturday June 8, 2013, the Intergalactic Alliance organization (IA) hosted science fiction affiliated costumers to march in the Boston LGBT Pride Parade. Members of the 501st who marched were critical to Intergalactic Alliance’s successful first appearance at the parade. There was enthusiastic, remarkably friendly response from the parade attendees, and lots of fun for all involved. The IA is especially grateful to all 501st members that supported the event.
