On August 14th, the New England Garrison, along with Alderaan Base, was invited to visit the Hasbro Children’s Hospital in Providence, RI. We were invited by The Longbox Comic Books and Collectibles comic shop, who brought along a selection of comics and toys for the kids. We were invited to the cancer unit to bring some smiles to the children there. We had Jedi, Darth Vader, Stormtroopers, Gunners and even a Jawa. On July 28th, the New England Garrison was invited to the help celebrate all things Star Wars at the Burlington Public Library, in Burlington, MA. The event was part of their summer reading program. The event kicked off at 6pm, the first time the library had held an evening event. Darth Vader, a biker scout, a jawa, Commander Cody and R2-D2 were on hand. The library had all kinds of Star Wars crafts available for the kids; ake your own lightsaber, Leia buns, Yoda Ears, coloring pages and bookmarks. On August 1st, the 501st Legion’s New England Garrison attended a Star Wars Day at the Pierson Library in Shelburne, Vermont. This was a small event, with a Stormtrooper and Scout Trooper attending the event that day. But what it lacked in size, it made up in fun! It was “a ton of fun!” in fact, according to those who were there!   On February 28th, the New England Garrison, along with the Alderaan Base, and costumed super-heros, pirates, KISS impersonators and many others, gathered for the rockin’ Benefit for Emma.  The night was a fundraiser for a six year old girl who is battling cancer. Ten Thousand Dollars was raised that night, through donations, auctions and raffles. And it was good time too! On Saturday, December 2oth, members of the 501st Legion – New England Garrison and The Rebel Legion – Alderaan Base where asked to pay a visit to a young Star Wars fan who was recently diagnosed with cancer and is in the hospital to begin his chemotherapy treatments.
