Another week, another Weird Al show for the New England Garrison! On August 4th, we performed on stage at the Zeiterion Performing Arts Center in New Bedford, MA with Weird Al on his Mandatory Fun Tour.  Sadly, this looks like the last New England appearance for Mr. Yankovic in the tour.  We did 6 out of 7 shows with Weird Al and his band as they swung through New England, and every experience was great! Baseball and Star Wars; two great tastes that taste great together! Especially when the New England Garrison is involved! Saturday, July 11th was Star Wars night at the Lowell Spinners, the Single A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox. The NEG, along with members of the Rebel Legion and the Mando Mercs, were out in force at LeLachuer Park, as the Spinners took on the Mahoning Valley Scrappers. By all reports, it was a great crowd! Characters included Commander Cody, Emperor Palpatine, an Imperial officer, a Jawa, a Mandolorian Merc, and two Endor Rebel Soldiers. People were ready for pictures…

On the weekend of June 26th and 27th, the New England Garrisons attended MASSiveCon, in Worcester, Massachusetts. Held at the DCU Center, this was the first time MASSiveCon had come to Worcester, and the NEG was happy to attend. Troopers said it was a slow con for the Garrison, but we are happy to report that we were able to raise $145 for the Boston Children’s Hospital. Bad guys doing good, for the win!

On June 26th, members of the 501st Legion’s New England Garrison and the Rebel Legion’s Alderaan Base were invited to attend a performance of the One-Man Star Wars Trilogy by Charlie Ross, at the Regent Theater in Arlington, MA. Two Biker Scouts, a Stormtrooper and Princess Leia were in attendance. They said it may have been “the easiest troop ever!”. Troopers walked around town and greeted people in front of the theater for about an hour total, then came in for club sandwiches in their roomy dressing room! Then, they were able to watch the last 2/3 of the show….

Saturday, June 13, 2015, the Intergalactic Alliance (IA) organization invited members of the 501st and Rebel Legions to participate in the 45th annual Boston Pride Parade. As IA is an inclusive group, members of other costuming organizations joined in the event. Boston Pride welcomed all members with open arms, and attendees were ecstatic to see all costumed participants marching along the parade route. IA is especially grateful to all 501st and Rebel Legions members that attended and supported the event. Legion members, Davira Kuy, Sean and Krista Carmichael founded IA as a means for costumers of different genres to march…
