The New England Garrison was invited to the end of the summer event at the Swansea Library, in Swansea, MA, on August 29th. It was their own mini-ComicCon!   The library had tried for 3 years for us to come to the event and was over the moon when we were able to make it! We had 3 Jawas and 2 Stormtroopers. We kinda became the Pied Pipers for the event.   The 501st Legion’s New England Garrison, along with The Rebel Legion’s Alderaan Base were invited to Star Wars Day at the – Liquid Planet Water Park in Candia, NH on August 22nd. This was a nice quite little troop. We had a Jawa, a Jedi and of course that crazy droid R2-D2. It was a slow day at the park and we greeted the guests as they came into the park. On August 14th, the New England Garrison, along with Alderaan Base, was invited to visit the Hasbro Children’s Hospital in Providence, RI. We were invited by The Longbox Comic Books and Collectibles comic shop, who brought along a selection of comics and toys for the kids. We were invited to the cancer unit to bring some smiles to the children there. We had Jedi, Darth Vader, Stormtroopers, Gunners and even a Jawa. We visited areas under the guidance of hospital personnel. She took us to different wards and was very careful about our access so as to not frighten the…

On July 28th, the New England Garrison was invited to the help celebrate all things Star Wars at the Burlington Public Library, in Burlington, MA. The event was part of their summer reading program. The event kicked off at 6pm, the first time the library had held an evening event. Darth Vader, a biker scout, a jawa, Commander Cody and R2-D2 were on hand. The library had all kinds of Star Wars crafts available for the kids; ake your own lightsaber, Leia buns, Yoda Ears, coloring pages and bookmarks. For snacks they had stormtrooper cupcakes and blue milk for everyone….

Another week, another Weird Al show for the New England Garrison! On August 4th, we performed on stage at the Zeiterion Performing Arts Center in New Bedford, MA with Weird Al on his Mandatory Fun Tour.  Sadly, this looks like the last New England appearance for Mr. Yankovic in the tour.  We did 6 out of 7 shows with Weird Al and his band as they swung through New England, and every experience was great! In fact, several of Al’s people noted throughout the night that we (meaning the NEG crews) were their favorite 501st groups of all the ones…
