On Saturday, August 23rd members of the 501st Legion – New England Garrison hosted a “maker booth” where they demonstrated some of the techniques we use in making our costumes. Everything from thermo-forming plastic, roto-casting with a 2-part resin, LED wiring, and more was on display. In addition to the demos there was also a small band of troopers wandering the grounds and posing for pictures with guests. On Saturday, August 16th members of the 501st Legion – New England Garrison and Wampa Clan of the Mandalorian Mercs paid a visit to Hadlock Field, home of the Portland Sea Dogs! There were two Stormtroopers, three bounty hunters, and an R2-D2 patrolling the concourse before and during the game to greet fans and pose for pictures. The game started off with the ceremonial 1st pitch by one of the Empire’s best pitcher/Stormtroopers, and it was a perfect strike too! Now only if they could aim their blasters with such precision.

On Saturday, August 16th members of the Rebel Legion – Alderaan Base and the 501st Legion – New England Garrison stopped by Liquid Planet Water Park for their annual “Star Wars Day”! Members were on-hand to greet guests at the water park and pose for pictures and fan favorite, R2-D2 was also in attendance! Kids and adults alike were encouraged to come out wearing their own Star Wars costumes as well. Over the weekend of August 8th through the 10th members of the 501st Legion – New England Garrison and the Rebel Legion – Alderaan Base attended the super-sized convention called BOSTON COMIC CON!!! Over the course of this 3-day show members patrolled the Seaport Convention Center and mingled with their fellow sci-fi and comic book fans. This was also the first event where we debuted our newest props; a small scale replica of the Death Star Trash Compactor and a life size Kenner action figure photo backdrop! On Sunday, July 20th members of the 501st Legion – New England Garrison and the Rebel Legion – Alderaan Base paid another visit to the Franklin Park Zoo to take part in their Dreamlight program. This is a great program that brings kids with special needs and disabilities to the zoo so they can see the animals after hours, making it easier for them to get around and fully enjoy their wildlife experience!
