On Saturday, August 23rd members of the 501st Legion – New England Garrison hosted a “maker booth” where they demonstrated some of the techniques we use in making our costumes. Everything from thermo-forming plastic, roto-casting with a 2-part resin, LED wiring, and more was on display. In addition to the demos there was also a small band of troopers wandering the grounds and posing for pictures with guests. On Saturday, August 16th members of the Rebel Legion – Alderaan Base and the 501st Legion – New England Garrison stopped by Liquid Planet Water Park for their annual “Star Wars Day”! Members were on-hand to greet guests at the water park and pose for pictures and fan favorite, R2-D2 was also in attendance! Kids and adults alike were encouraged to come out wearing their own Star Wars costumes as well. Saturday, May 3rd was the annual Free Comic Book Day, which is a nationwide event geared towards getting more people out to their local comic book stores. Lots of different comics, some of which are special prints made just for this occasion, were given out free of charge to anyone that stopped by. Our troopers participated in many events all over New England. On Sunday, March 23rd members of the 501st New England Garrison and Rebel Legion Alderaan Base visited the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester, NH to help the Monarchs celebrate the birthday of their mascot Max the Lion! Troopers patrolled the concourse before the game to pose for photos with the fans and also took part in some on-ice activities. We also helped to present Max with his R2-D2 birthday cake! It was a great time for everyone in attendance and we hope to see Max again for his next birthday party!

On Saturday, October 5th members of the 501st New England Garrison and the Rebel Legion’s Alderaan Base participated in the nation-wide event called Star Wars Reads Day, which is geared towards getting more children interested in reading. Troopers from both groups fanned out across the region to make appearances in Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island.
