On Saturday, June 20th, members of the 501st Legion’s New England Garrison, along with the Rebel Legion’s Alderaan Base, were invited to attend Star War Night at the ball park! It was the home game of The New Hampshire Fisher Cats, the double-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays. (Though, that night, their team name was listed on the scoreboard as “The Empire”!) On May 31st, member of the 501st Legion’s New England Garrison, along with members of The Rebel Legion’s Alderaan Base, were invited to the “Be a Rebel, Read a Book!” event held at Water Street Books, in Exeter, NH. Book publisher Dorling Kindersley (DK) launched the nationwide “Star Wars: Read a Book, Be a Rebel” initiative. Water Street Bookstore was selected as an official event site. May 2nd was the annual Free Comic Book Day. The New England Garrison made appearances at locations all over the region! Double Midnight Comics in Manchester, NH – This is certainly the largest Free Comic Book Day event we participated in! We had one trooper who even appeared in three different costumes in the course of the day.     On February 28th, the New England Garrison was invited to the Ragged Mountain Ski Resort in Danbury, NH for their Star Wars Ski Day. The event was sponsored by Coca-Cola, and a donation was made to CASA, Court Appointed Special Advocates. They are a non-profit organization that provides volunteer advocates for children in need. They also held a silent auction and raffles during the day to raise funds. The ski resort was filming promo videos while we were there.   Here’s an example of parenting done right! The New England Garrison was invited to the birthday party for a 9 year old girl who has been a Star Wars fan since before she can remember. She is particularly interested in the the villains of the saga, such as Darth Maul and Boba Fett. At the party, the kids made pool noodle lightsabers and loved it when a Stormtrooper walked into the party.
