Members of the New England Garrison supported the Rebel Legion’s local unit Alderaan Base at Rhode Island Comic Con. Troopers were on hand to pose for pictures with con-goers and paricipate in a blood drive sponsored by the Rhode Island Blood Center and hosted by Star Wars author Ryder Windham. In addition to his efforts with the blood drive, Mr. Windham was also signing copies of his books and donating all of the proceeds from those sales to Toys-For-Tots. On June 2, 2012, New England Garrison and Alderaan Base members stormed the Knights of Columbus in Attleboro, MA to join Star Wars author and Honorary Legion Member Ryder Windham to call attention for the need for blood. In conjunction with the Rhode Island Blood Center, nearly 30 pints of blood were raised, and thanks to donations from Hasbro and DK Publishing, a raffle raised $390 for the Office of Children and Youth Learning in Cumberland, Rhode Island. On October 15 the 501st NEG and the Rebel Legion’s Alderaan Base joined author Ryder Windham at the Rochambeau Branch Library, Providence RI for a Star Wars themed blood drive. The library greatly exceeded collection expectations and everyone had a great time!
The NEG Supports Walk Now for Autism

On Saturday, October 2nd and Sunday, October 3rd, the NEG supported two Walk Now for Autism events in Rhode Island and New Hampshire, respectively. Walk Now for Autism is a charity walk put together by the group Autism Speaks in February of 2005. The organization is dedicated towards funding research and examining the causes, prevention and treatment of Autism, while increasing awareness of the disorder.
