NEG Hybrid Clone Helmet, Clone Wars Style

To finish an NEG-hybrid helmet in Clone Wars style, you need to do the following:

  • Cut out the visor and entire frown.
  • Fill in the frontmost vent slot and cut 1 more in the back.
  • Cut out the entire mouth detail section..
  • Completely remove the neck ring.
  • Add raised circular details to the sides of the ears (not shown in the pictures below)
  • Sand the brow trim completely flat.
  • Sand the raised lip off of the fin, on both the top and sides. The result should be a thinner fin that is flat on all sides, as shown below.

In this photo you can see where Jeff began to sand the brow trim flat. When you do this, you may end up sanding all the way through the helmet, depending on how thick the resin is there. If that happens, use plumber's epoxy putty on the inside of the helmet to fill in the holes. You can find this putty in the plumbing aisle at Home Depot.

Tip: to create the raised circles, go to Home Depot and get washers of the appropriate diameter (found in the fasteners aisle). Glue them to the helmet, then use Bondo to fill in the centers.
